The first ingredient: time
I know, carving out even just 20 minutes in a busy week full of work and kid stuff can feel overwhelming.
Have an honest talk together about which day of the week, and what time of the day, feels like the best time to connect for 20 minutes.
I suggest:
- It needs to be a time when you both feel fresh and energized. I suggest before noon!
- What time of the day are you most likely to have quiet and privacy? Being able to close the door on the outside world helps you focus on each other.
It's okay if your timeslot slips around a little, but for now go ahead and pick a time you think may work and write it into both of your calendars.
